Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 14, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Almanac Engineering ("Almanac Engineering," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares personal information when you visit almanacengineering.com, join our waitlist, reserve a Prima Materia printer, or access our investor updates (collectively, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
Information you provide to us.
- Waitlist and reservations: your name, email address, company, and industry.
- Reservation payments: when you reserve a printer you place a $100 refundable deposit through our payment processor, Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number, security code, or expiration date — Stripe processes that payment card data directly. We retain a record of the reservation, including the deposit amount and currency, your reservation code, and the Stripe customer, session, and payment identifiers associated with it.
- Account and investor updates: your email address and name, used to create your account and provide access to subscriber content.
- Communications: the content of any messages, emails, or requests you send us.
Information collected automatically. When you use the Services, we and our providers may collect your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring URLs, and how you interact with the site, using cookies and similar technologies (see our Cookie Policy). This includes marketing-attribution parameters (how you found us), analytics data, and risk signals generated by Google reCAPTCHA to prevent spam and abuse on our forms.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Services;
- Process and fulfill reservations, including handling the refundable deposit and sending confirmations, receipts, and status updates;
- Manage our waitlist and provide access to investor updates and subscriber content;
- Authenticate you through secure magic-link sign-in;
- Communicate with you, including transactional messages and, where you have opted in, product updates and marketing;
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and security incidents (including via reCAPTCHA); and
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
Payment Processing
Reservation deposits are processed by Stripe on Stripe-hosted checkout pages. Your payment card details are collected and handled by Stripe under its own terms and privacy policy, and are never transmitted to or stored on our servers. We receive only confirmation of payment and the reservation identifiers described above.
How We Share Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it with the following categories of service providers, who process it on our behalf under contract and only as needed to deliver the Services:
- Stripe — payment processing for reservation deposits.
- HubSpot — our customer relationship management and marketing platform. We sync your contact details (name, email, company, and industry) and reservation records so we can manage our relationship with you.
- Resend — delivery of transactional and subscription emails.
- Google — reCAPTCHA (abuse prevention), Google Analytics (only with your consent), and Google Cloud Storage (content hosting).
- Vercel — website hosting and privacy-focused analytics.
- MongoDB Atlas — database hosting.
- Notion — content management for our investor updates.
We may also disclose information when required by law or legal process, to protect the rights, property, or safety of Almanac Engineering, our users, or others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (in which case we will provide notice).
Legal Bases for Processing
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal information on the following legal bases: your consent (for example, for analytics cookies and marketing emails); performance of a contract (to fulfill a reservation you request); compliance with a legal obligation (for example, retaining financial records); and our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Services, where those interests are not overridden by your rights. You may withdraw consent at any time.
Data Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy or as required by law. Reservation and payment records are retained for the period required for accounting, tax, and legal-compliance purposes. You may request deletion as described below, subject to these obligations.
International Data Transfers
We and our service providers are located in or process data in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed there. Where we transfer personal data from the EEA, the UK, or other regions, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
- Request deletion of your information;
- Restrict or object to certain processing;
- Request a portable copy of information you provided;
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and
- Opt out of marketing communications at any time.
California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise any right, contact us at the address below; you can also unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any such email. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, including encrypted data transmission and passwordless magic-link authentication (we never store passwords). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
The Services are intended for a business audience and are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date, and, where required, we will provide additional notice.
